Further Information:
A Personal Assistant is required to support a 37year old, profoundly deaf man with a learning disability in the HU5 area of Hull. This gentleman requires support and assistance with communication to access social opportunities and is looking for a PA who has deaf awareness training and Level 2 British Sign Language or higher.
He is friendly, but can be shy and needs support to develop new friends and with communication with the wider community.
The gentleman particularly likes going to the deaf club on a Thursday evening between 7.30 to 10.00pm, but also likes going to the pub or cinema. He has a taxi from his home to the deaf club, so the Personal Assistant could either travel with him or meet him there.
Applicants must be flexible in their approach to work, like a job that can be demanding but varied, and have a strongly developed sense of social justice in supporting the social inclusion of disabled people in their local communities.
Applicants should also be honest and trustworthy, have a confident nature with the ability to remain calm, be good at communicating, and be able to build good relationships with people, based on trust and respect.
This man is looking for a PA with Level 2 BSL or better.
