Further Information:
A Personal Assistant is required for an 14old young man with autism in the HU4 area of Hull. He has a wicked sense of humour and is fun to be around. He enjoys cinema, climbing, the beach and arcades. He is very energetic and likes to be active, but also enjoys the library and museums. He loves science and learning facts.
He is vulnerable when out in the community and needs adult supervision including accompanying into Gents’ toilets where he needs support and supervision with toileting.
The Personal Assistant must be able to interact well with others providing encouragement for the young person to develop their own skills and independence. Your role will be to support him with engaging in social activities within the local area and improving his life skills and development.
You will be very aware that this young boy has no health and safety awareness, particularly whilst crossing the road and you must ensure his health and safety is of paramount importance at all times.
Applicants should also have a strongly developed sense of social justice in supporting the social inclusion of young disabled people in their local community. In addition they should be honest, reliable, and good at communicating, tolerant and non-judgemental and able to build good relationships based on trust and respect.
The hours of work are flexible and to be negotiated at interview. The rate of pay is £8.91 per hour.
