Rate of pay: £8.91
Hours: 4 (More possibly available)
A Personal Assistant is required for 4 hours a week to befriend a 15-year-old young man who lives in the Bransholme area. The young man has Asperger’s and anxiety, but can be quite outgoing when he knows and trusts people. He is particularly interested in gaming and IT, also space and science and it would be an advantage if someone is interested in these areas. It is likely that the hours can be increased if the relationship between the PA and the young man works well.
It is important that the successful PA listens to the young man, giving him attention and being sensitive to his needs. He does not like being put under pressure to do things, but once trust is established, he is more willing to consider other things. The family have a pet Husky and the young man likes to walk the dog, so a dog lover would be another advantage.
Applicants should also have a strongly developed sense of social justice in supporting the social inclusion of disabled people in their local community. In addition, they should be honest, reliable, and good at communicating, tolerant and non-judgemental and able to build good relationships based on trust and respect.
Applicants should quote reference number CX565.
“Owing to the nature of this position, any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory checking report from the Disclosure and Barring Service, the cost of which will be met by the local authority/employer.”
