CX678 Personal Assistant needed for a 7-year-old boy who loves to explore. 8-16 hrs per week HU8 area

A family in the HU8 area are looking for a PA who can help care and support a boy who is seven years old with additional needs. He is currently in special school and thriving. He is delayed developmentally and has some health issues and behavioural challenges. He has sensory processing, delayed language processing but is verbal. The PA will need to learn and understand his individual needs in order to help him reach his full potential.

The young boy is happy, active, humorous and loving and loves exploring within his limitations. He is mobile but also uses a specialist pushchair. The PA will need to play and have fun with him whilst keeping him safe and adhere to a detailed behaviour plan. There will be some personal care involved.

The PA will have a genuine interest in working with disabled children, be trustworthy, able to use own initiative, confident in nature with the ability to remain calm and adaptable to changing situations. The PA will be working in partnership with the family and will be available to assist on family outings as well as having the confidence to take him out on his own.

“Owing to the nature of this position, any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory checking report from the Disclosure and Barring Service, the cost of which will be met by the local authority/employer.

Hours:  8hrs per week term time, 16hrs per week school holidays (days to be negotiated at interview, some weekends and evenings)
