Further information: A Personal Assistant (PA) is required to support a 14yr old young man in the HU9 area of Hull.  The family are hoping for someone who can give him real life experiences take him places and introduce him to activities and social settings appropriate for him and to generally leave the house.

He has a great sense of humour and likes jokes.  He likes to make a funny video once he is comfortable with a person.  He likes video games and gaming, he likes watching video online.  He likes theme parks and rides but also can struggle in the environment.  He likes to play The Way of Cinnamon and bowling (will cheat to win).

The PA will be required to support the young man to access activities of his choice within the community.  He has no awareness of danger, either in person or on-line, so the PA will be required to keep him safe.  He is very anxious and a lot of the time will not speak or will only say small sentences to the people he is comfortable with. He will definitely need someone to advocate for him in new situations.

He requires support with all aspects of personal care, but will not initially be comfortable with a stranger supporting him with personal care, but as supporting him to go out of the home to experience activities in the community are a major part of this job, the PA may need to support him to access the toilet.

A car driver with access to their own vehicle would be preferred.

The successful applicant will be employed subject to a DBS check which will be paid for by the Local Authority.

“Owing to the nature of this position, any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory checking report from the Disclosure and Barring Service, the cost of which will be met by the local authority/employer.”
