Further information: A Personal Assistant is required to support a nine year old boy in the HU7 area. He has a very happy and relaxed demeanour. He is a kind boy who enjoys interaction with others. He loves to explore, feel the wind in his hair, and enjoys plenty of cuddles. When it comes to messy play and other forms of play, he requires guidance and encouragement. He enjoys one to one interaction, being read and sung to, playing with books and picture cards. Secret Life of Pets and barefoot books are a firm favourite.
As a PA you will support him with going out into the community. This could be a visit to the local retail park, a trip into town on the bus, visit local attractions etc. However, on occasions, he likes to stay at home and play.
Applicants must be fun, reliable, good communicators, and show dignity and respect towards others. PAs will work with him on a 2:1 ratio, one PA has been identified. A current DBS certificate and knowledge of manual handling is required. However, if you do not have a DBS certificate, we can arrange one for you.
He has profound physical and learning difficulties; he is a full-time wheelchair user and he is non-verbal. He requires someone capable of carrying out his personal care and needs. His needs are complex, and behaviour can be challenging at times (not often). This is generally due to frustration.
The family are hoping to get a wheelchair accessible vehicle next year, so a driver’s license is preferrable, but not essential. Please note, we are a multi dog household, and applicants will need to feel comfortable with this.
