JOB DESCRIPTION
Choices and Rights have set up a new welfare rights service to advise disabled people and their families on welfare rights and benefits. This is in response to local demand and to the proposed changes in the welfare benefits system. You will be involved from the start in establishing and delivering this service.
The post will have a busy caseload and will include providing independent assessments for the full range of social security and related benefits/services and a legal representation service to disabled people who need to use the appeal route to establish their correct legal entitlement
Location: Bransholme, Hull
Hours: 28-35 Hours per week (Monday-Friday)
Rate of pay: Actual Salary £29411.20 (Based on 35 hours)
SEARH CRITERIA
· Experience of advising people on welfare benefits
· Experience of planning and prioritising own workload
· Ability to communicate with people at all levels
· Experience of managing a case work service or detailed customer service
· Experience in the use of IT systems to deliver a casework service
· Flexible approach to working and a proactive team member
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Choices & Rights are a user led organisation of disabled people in the Hull and East Riding area. We believe that the best experts on the needs of disabled people are disabled people themselves, and we use
our voices to campaign for disabled people’s rights and develop new services. Applications from disabled people and those with long term health conditions particularly welcome.
We are a small office based on Bransholme.
