AXRS1 A PA/PA’s needed to support a young woman starting at Hull University in Sep – 20hrs per week

Job Category: Adults
Job Location: HU5
Occupational requirement: Female Only Role

A young woman beginning her university life in September is looking for a PA or PA’s to assist her transition to independent student life. She will be living in the University Halls of residence in the HU5 area. There are 20hrs per week available and she is looking for 1 or 2 PA’s to cover the hours.

She is a manual wheelchair user and is unable to stand or walk but can transfer herself and get around her adapted room on her knees or in her wheelchair. Her hands are slightly impaired which affects her fine motor skills, so she struggles with small buttons, zips etc and they can be painful or tire easily. She is shy and needs someone to go out with and help her make new friends. She is looking for someone who can offer her discreet, reliable and consistent support without making it obvious, someone who looks like a friend rather than her support worker.

Duties will include (but are not restricted to) preparing/cooking the main meal in the evenings, help collecting and storing online food shopping and assistance with laundry and changing the bedding.

She will need some support helping do her hair if needed, helping fasten buttons/zips before going out, sometimes to pubs/clubs or taking shopping trips, cinema visits, socialising and helping her make friends in a new city.

Help will be needed mainly after 5pm and during evenings, weekends, with some help some mornings before classes.
